I've noticed quite a few photos of guitars laying on the rubber router pads sold by almost every woodworking and tool store. Their nonslip surface is easy to clean, and will nicely protect your guitar from workbench scratches. Here's the problem-never ever leave a lacquer finished guitar laying on one for an extended length of time. One of my guitars was permanently imprinted, and nothing would remove it. Wiping, polishing, buffing, even an overspray nothing would make it go away. Finally I had to sand the back down to wood and refinish. These pads are handy to use, just be careful when working with lacquer finished guitars around them. There is a serious compatability issue. Al |

I had the same thing happen to a guitar that had hung for a month. It happened over night. This was one of the Lee-Valley pads, which I use for almost everything. |

Mike, You should be fine with the cat urethane finish you use once it is cured. |

Robbie, I'm sure you're right. I did finish my electric with nitro though. |

I bought a new Les Paul Deluxe in the early '70's and left it leaning against a vinyl couch for a couple of days. It gave me a nice, new "embossed" finish on the back! |
